Pastor Martin Ssempa of Makerere Neighborhood Church has claimed that he narrowly escaped an assassination try over the weekend.
This incident comes after the Pastor had earlier revealed that he was being trailed by unknown people, prompting considerations for his security.
Ssempa, who has been a controversial determine as a consequence of his opposition to the legalization of homosexuality in Uganda, shared that his life has been in peril for a while.
In response to those threats, he requested prayers and elevated safety from his followers and the authorities.
In response to the Pastor, he determined to take a short lived break from the general public eye and retreat to a bunker he had personally constructed for such emergencies.
On the day of the alleged assassination try, Ssempa was away from his dwelling in Kasanje, engaged in some development work. It was throughout this time that he was reportedly ambushed by six males in two autos, however he managed to flee unscathed.
Ssempa suspects that the culprits behind the assault might both be navy personnel collaborating with land grabbers or people angered by his sturdy stance in opposition to homosexuality.
His activism on this space has made him a goal of those that assist LGBTQ+ rights in Uganda.
Following the incident, Ssempa reported the matter to the Police, who responded by assigning him two escorts for his safety.
